| IT STARTED WITH ONE CHILD – KIM HILL |
 |
| 1966 – 2011 |
|
It was 1969. Kim Hill was 3-years old, battling leukemia. Doctors said she most likely wouldn’t recover. Frightened, her parents, Fred and Fran, vigilantly stayed at her bedside. They mustered up every last ounce of strength they had and gave it to their daughter.
To everyone’s surprise, their strong little girl beat the odds. And not only that, inspired the building of the first Ronald McDonald House in 1974.

Going Green
With nearly 310 Ronald McDonald Houses around the world, RMHC understands that a lot of energy goes into supporting more than 7,200 families every night. That’s why RMHC is taking steps to go a little greener. |

300 Strong
RMHC children and families are stronger when they are surrounded by a network of support. Team RMHC echoes this notion — that a team of 300 marathoners, is stronger than 1. When you support a Team RMHC runner, you support children and families in need. |

ADPi
When times get rough, sometimes you need the kind of support that only sisters can offer. Luckily, RMHC has some of the best sisters around — the women of Alpha Delta Pi. |

How an RMHC
Garden Grows
A Ronald McDonald House is more than what is inside — it’s what is outside, too. Like beautiful gardens tended by caring staff and volunteers. Take a look at how some of the Ronald McDonald House gardens have grown this summer. |

- In 1987, the Minneapolis/St. Paul Ronald McDonald House started the pop tab recycling program. The idea caught on and now many Ronald McDonald Houses participate in the program.
- The Houses recycle only the tabs because they are more hygienic and make collection and storage easier. After the tabs are collected, the RMHC Chapter will take them to their local recycling center, where they are weighed and valued. The recycling center will then send them a check.
- RMHC of the Upper Midwest raises approximately $30,000 each year from their pop tab recycling program.
