Proud of 1 Scar In high school, appearance means a lot. And like most high school kids, Lauren just wanted to fit in. But when she was diagnosed with a rare brain malformation, it meant brain surgery, a shaved head and a four inch scar. She thought she would get extensions to mask the scar. But while she was staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia, she met another girl who had been through something similar, and she gained confidence in her new appearance.
