30 Ways in 30 Days

Bring homemade cookies or cupcakes for families. Or help children bake and decorate them.

When parents spend the day at the hospital with their child, they return to the Ronald McDonald House hungry and exhausted. There is nothing like coming home to the aroma of fresh-baked cookies.

Known for its strong emphasis on philanthropy, the ADPi Foundation has supported RMHC for nearly 30 years as its national service project.  In Atlanta, Georgia, members of the ADPi Chapter serve meals for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. The ADPi women always look for small, spontaneous ways to help families feel welcome and cared for. They often bake a batch of cookies or bring dough and all the trimmings to the House so children can bake and decorate their own cookies.

Students at Bonham Elementary School in Harlingen, Texas, bake cookies every month for families at the local Ronald McDonald House. The Bonham Elementary "Cookie Brigade" loves to express its artistic side, often taking cookies and even gingerbread houses to decorate with children at the Ronald McDonald House. The students realize that they are helping real-life people feel a little better during a really difficult time in their lives," says Dawn Burbach, Bonham Elementary Student Council sponsor.

If you'd like to volunteer your baking skills, get in touch with your local Chapter  or search VolunteerMatch to sign up for volunteer opportunities in your area.
