Lighting up the Holidays
Setting out to decorate this dazzling holiday light display is no small feat. But, Rich Faucher, his wife Linda and their children have a little inspiration.
Holiday lights bring out the kid in all of us. Those dazzling light displays, the lawn set ablaze with reindeer and candy canes, makes those few months out of the year feel special. When you’re at the hospital all day filled with worry for the future and your child, and come home to a display as fantastic as the one at the Ronald McDonald House in Delaware, you can’t help but have your spirits lifted.
After being helped by the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia 24 years ago, the Faucher family of New Castle, Delaware, was looking for a way to say thank you. Each year, they spend about three weeks bringing the House to full illumination with thousands of strands of lights, a ton of reindeer and if they’re lucky a little snowfall to complete the holiday charm.
For the staff and volunteers at Ronald McDonald House Charities, making the holidays special for families who are a long way from home is our gift to them.
Get inspired and decorate your own House – full of gum drops and candy canes
Inspired by the Faucher family holiday display, but don’t have the time to string a thousand lights? We’ll make the job easy for you.
This year, you can help RMHC keep families together with a gift of your own. Make a donation online – small or big – and share the joy by creating a personalized RMHC gingerbread house. Decorate it with gum drops, candy canes and frosting – it’s an activity that’s fun for the whole family.
The more houses you build, the more families we can host in our Houses. This year our goal is to raise $550,000, and that means we need your help to build a village – or should we say sprawling city, full of 1000s of gingerbread houses. Donate, decorate your gingerbread house, and then inspire your family and friends by sharing it on Facebook.
With your help, families can be together at a time it really matters.
