McDonald’s Gives Back
McDonald’s Helps Strengthen Families with New National Fundraiser Benefiting RMHC
The time we share with family, friends and those that are close will forever be in our hearts. And at RMHC, we know families are stronger when they are together… and that children heal faster and cope better when they share time with family. To help over four million children stay close to their families during difficult times every year, we rely on the generous donations of corporate donors, like McDonald’s, and their customers.
For 36 years, RMHC has been McDonald’s “Charity of Choice.” McDonald’s is the system’s largest corporate donor, and as part of its ongoing commitment to RMHC, a new national fundraiser was launched this summer in support of our mission to improve the health and well being of children. McDonald’s restaurants donate a portion of proceeds from every Happy Meal® and Mighty Kids Meal® sold in the U.S. to RMHC – benefitting thousands of sick children and their families who rely on our programs. This fundraiser is promoted in-store, at the drive-thru, and supported by national advertising on TV, radio, print, and online channels.
With this fundraiser, and in celebration of family togetherness, an online campaign, “Family Time. Happy Time.” also was launched to encourage families to pledge minutes of “happy time” together and share their activities with other families through McDonald’s Facebook page. For every minute of family time pledged, McDonald’s will donate one penny with the goal of reaching 1 million minutes and $10,000 to RMHC. “Bringing families together, encouraging them to share fun times and giving back to the community have always been important values to McDonald’s. The new national fundraiser and the online campaign will give our customers even more chances to support RMHC and its programs,” said Jan Fields, President, McDonald’s USA, LLC. “At McDonald’s, we are so proud that through RMHC we have been able to serve countless families when they needed help the most.”

In addition to purchasing a Happy Meal or Mighty Kids Meal, or pledging family time through the online program, customers can also drop change in a RMHC Donation Box at participating McDonald’s restaurants. They can also support McDonald’s annual “Give A Hand®” fundraiser from November 10 – 20, culminating on November 20 with a worldwide celebration, McHappy Day. Since 2002, McDonald’s has raised $170 million for RMHC and other children's charities around the world. This shows how a little goes along way, and how small gestures add up to make a big difference for families in need. Through monetary gifts, in-kind donations and volunteerism, McDonald’s helps RMHC strengthen families during the most difficult time of their life.
